David Haerle Watches a Lifetime Pass By on Reflective New Single “The Hills of Silver Lake”

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Los Angeles singer-songwriter-guitarist David Haerle writes from the perspective of someone who has stayed close enough to home to watch it change. Drawing from personal history, familiar places and the people around him, his music blends rock, country and Americana with reflective storytelling and guitar-led arrangements shaped by a lifetime inside the music business.

Haerle grew up in a family where music was both a creative pursuit and a livelihood. His father, Martin, emigrated from Germany and co-founded the independent CMH Records, initially operating the label from the garage and a side room of the family’s Los Angeles home. His maternal grandparents co-owned Nashville country station WENO with Cal Young, and Roy Acuff brought Haerle onstage at the Grand Ole Opry when he was nine years old.

After receiving a Fender Stratocaster around age 13, Haerle played in rock and alternative new wave bands during the 1980s before becoming a music agent at ICM. When his father died unexpectedly, he took over the family business at 24. Haerle has served as president of CMH Records, now CMH Label Group, ever since, while continuing to write, record, and play guitar. His albums include Garden of Edendale from 2018, Death Valley from 2020 and El Camino Sierra from 2023.

His latest single, “The Hills of Silver Lake,” turns that long perspective toward the Los Angeles neighborhood where he grew up and continues to live as an adult. The song follows familiar streets, homes, restaurants and landmarks across decades, tracing the quiet realization that a place can remain recognizable even as nearly everything within it changes.

“‘The Hills of Silver Lake’ is about living your adulthood in the neighborhood you grew up in. I think it gives you a special view of life as it goes by,” Haerle explains. He writes about longtime waiters aging and retiring, new families moving into houses once tied to childhood friends, landmarks disappearing, and people he knew passing away. Through those observations, the song also recognizes Haerle’s own movement through time. It is, he says, an attempt to describe “this particular experience of bearing witness, and about realizing that I, too, am just passing through.”

Haerle wrote the track and produced it with frequent collaborator Jose Salazar, who also mixed and engineered the recording. Haerle sings lead and plays electric and acoustic rhythm guitars, joined by Carson Cohen on bass, backing vocals and string arrangement; Ken Belcher on electric guitars; Reade Pryor on drums and percussion; Salazar on keyboards; Leah Zeger on violin and viola; and Derek Stein on cello.

The video, also available now, was shot and edited by director Michael Pottle. It unfolds like a kaleidoscope of California memories, with shifting images and a dreamlike sense of place that match the song’s nostalgic tone. The visual treatment reflects the way familiar moments, streets, and landmarks can blur together when viewed across a lifetime.

“The Hills of Silver Lake” follows “Tucumcari Tonite!,” Haerle’s reflection on childhood drives through the American Southwest. While continuing to lead CMH Label Group, he is working toward his fourth album and preparing additional music for release throughout the year.
