The NEA Foundation names 43 educators as 2027 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence recipients, honored at the February 2027 Salute Gala.
WASHINGTON, DC, DC, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Washington, D.C. (September 14, 2026) — The NEA Foundation announced today that 43 public school educators from across the country have been selected to receive the 2027 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence.
These honorees serve in urban, rural, and suburban public schools and are being recognized for classroom excellence, leadership in the teaching profession, community engagement, and a commitment to expanding opportunities for all students through public education.

Since 2001, The NEA Foundation has honored hundreds of educators nationwide with the Awards for Teaching Excellence. This year’s honorees will be celebrated at the 2027 Salute to Excellence in Education Gala on February 12, 2027, at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. The NEA Foundation deeply appreciates Travelers’ generous support for this nationwide awards program.
Five of the 43 awardees will receive the coveted Horace Mann Awards for Teaching Excellence. Each will receive a $10,000 award and be featured in a short original documentary showcasing their classroom practice. One will be selected for the NEA Member Benefits Award, the highest honor in public education, and will receive $25,000.
