Independent luxury pen maker’s international story spans an Australian wedding party, Slovakian client gifts and a Canadian business-partner gift
GAINESVILLE, GA, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pitchman Pens reports that its handcrafted writing instruments have reached customers in more than 35 countries, connecting the independent Georgia maker with collectors, professionals and gift recipients around the world.
Founded in 2017 by lifelong salesman Jim Lawyer, Pitchman began with his search for a substantial pen to use when closing important deals. He wanted a writing instrument with distinctive materials and a noticeable presence in the hand. That idea led to the original Closer, crafted with blue abalone shell, and became the foundation of the company. The Pitchman name came from Lawyer’s own nickname in his sales career.
Its international customer history reveals how far that original idea has traveled. An Australian groom purchased six pens for his wedding party. In Slovakia, a customer selected Pitchman pens as gifts for clients. A customer in Laval, Canada, chose a pen as a gift for a business partner. In the United States, a Fortune 100 company has repeatedly purchased Pitchman pens as gifts for conference speakers. Each purchase brought a Georgia-made writing instrument into a different relationship and occasion.
“I created Pitchman because I wanted a pen that meant something to the person carrying it. Seeing those pens become part of people’s lives in more than 35 countries has been one of the most rewarding parts of building this business,” said Jim Lawyer, founder of Pitchman Pens.
Those experiences broaden the story beyond the company’s beginnings in the sales world. Alongside business professionals, Pitchman’s international customers have included pen collectors in the United Kingdom, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, as well as an author in Sweden. The appeal has crossed both geographic boundaries and the professional setting that first inspired the brand.
The pens are handcrafted by Pitchman’s artisans in Gainesville. Caps and barrels are hand-turned on a lathe, with fitting, finishing, polishing and inspection contributing to the completed writing instrument. The company produces fountain and rollerball pens in limited quantities, using materials that include natural abalone shell, mother-of-pearl and premium resins.
The materials have an international journey of their own. Some designs incorporate pāua abalone shell from New Zealand, brought together with specialist writing components through the company’s handcrafting process in Georgia. Natural variation in the shell gives individual pens differences in pattern and appearance.
Pitchman sells directly through its website and ships orders from Georgia. That model connects its local handcrafting operation with customers who may be choosing a pen from thousands of miles away.
