Eindhoven, North Brabant, Netherlands – October 19, 2026 – More than a third of new U.S. startups now start with a single founder, and FounderTwin, a founder resource led by serial entrepreneur Violetta Bonenkamp, has mapped an AI co-founder workflow for them at AI-Co-Founder.com: five steps for validating, designing, building and automating a startup with AI, with the founder keeping the final judgment.
More startups now start with one founder
According to Carta’s Solo Founders Report 2025, published in December 2025 and based on data from tens of thousands of U.S. companies, the share of new startups with a solo founder rose from 23.7 percent in 2019 to 36.3 percent in the first half of 2025. The same report found that solo-led companies made up 30 percent of startups founded in 2024 but received 14.7 percent of the cash raised in priced equity rounds that year.
“AI tools have changed what one founder can build in a week,” said Violetta Bonenkamp, who leads FounderTwin. “The founder still owns the decisions, the equity, the risk and the customer relationship, so the workflow is designed around that.”
Five steps from idea to weekly review
The FounderTwin AI co-founder workflow runs in a loop:
- Validate: turn the idea into a specific problem, customer group, offer and evidence check
- Design: shape landing pages, product flows and screens with Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent
- Build: ship a prototype, first minimum viable product (MVP), script or software integration with Claude Code, Anthropic’s coding tool
- Automate: move lead follow-up, onboarding and reporting into n8n or Make.com workflows
- Review: look back at what shipped, what broke and what the next founder decision should be
The AI co-founder checklist turns that loop into five outputs: a validation sequence, a first-MVP scope, a design brief, a build brief and an automation map for repeated work after launch.
Clear language about what the term means
Several guides address the term itself. What is an AI cofounder? explains the category for solo founders, a zero-equity guide lists what founders should check first, and comparison pages set the idea against an AI startup advisor and an AI founder assistant.
“We use the term AI co-founder because founders search for it,” Violetta Bonenkamp said. “Each guide then spells out where AI helps and where the founder has to decide.”
FounderTwin does not promise funding, revenue or product-market fit. Its guides recommend checking every AI output against real customer evidence before building more.
