LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The European Life Settlement Association (ELSA) welcomed professionals from across the international life settlement market to the Dublin Life Settlement Symposium 2026, held on Tuesday 15 September at the offices of Byrne Wallace Shields.

The Symposium brought together investors, asset managers, legal professionals, service providers and other market participants for an afternoon of discussion examining some of the key opportunities and challenges facing the life settlement sector.

The programme opened with a keynote presentation from Professor Federico Fabbrini of Dublin City University and Harvard Kennedy School, entitled Ireland and Europe in a Changing Global Landscape. Professor Fabbrini explored Ireland’s and Europe’s opportunities and challenges within a changing geopolitical environment, including the economic, political and geopolitical factors likely to shape the region’s future.

David Naughton of Byrne Wallace Shields then turned the focus specifically to Ireland and the Life Settlement Market, considering Ireland’s continued important role within the sector, its legal framework and investment environment, and the opportunities for future market development.

Legal and regulatory developments were a major theme of the afternoon, with a presentation session entitled Life Settlement Litigation: Current Issues and Developments. The session was chaired by Ryan McTernan of Fifth Season Investments, with presentations from Richard Krebs of Orrick and Lee Pepper of ArentFox Schiff.

The session examined current litigation affecting the life settlement industry, recent developments and the practical approaches firms can take when managing legal and regulatory risk.

Investor sentiment also featured prominently on the programme. Manu Mazumdar of Conning presented the preliminary results of the ELSA-Conning Investor Sentiment Survey 2026, providing delegates with insight into current capital market trends, investor priorities and expectations for the life settlement market.

The formal Symposium programme concluded with a discussion on one of the most rapidly developing areas affecting the sector: artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence: Misuse, Overuse and No Use was chaired by Matthew Sheridan of Health Data Analytics Institute (HDAI), who was joined by panellists Phil Hall of Longevity Holdings and Vince Granieri of Predictive Resources.

The panel considered how artificial intelligence is already being used within life settlements, where it can provide genuine value, where its use may be excessive and the operational, ethical and regulatory questions firms need to consider as adoption continues.

Chris Wells, Executive Director of ELSA, said:

“This year’s Dublin Life Settlement Symposium demonstrated the breadth of issues currently shaping our market. From Ireland’s continued important role and the changing European landscape through to litigation, investor sentiment and artificial intelligence, there was a great deal for delegates to discuss.

“We are extremely grateful to all of our speakers and panellists for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who joined us in Dublin. Bringing together different parts of the market to exchange ideas and perspectives is an important part of ELSA’s work and helps support the continued development of the life settlement industry.”

Following the Symposium, ELSA members attended the European Life Settlement Association Annual General Meeting, providing an opportunity to review the association’s activities, hear updates from its Executive Committee and help shape its future direction.

ELSA would like to express its gratitude to Byrne Wallace Shields, who hosted the Symposium, and to its Symposium Sponsors: Coventry Capital, Corry Capital Advisors, Fifth Season Investments and Preston Capital.

ELSA would also like to thank all of the speakers, chairs and panellists who contributed to the programme: Professor Federico Fabbrini (Dublin City University and Harvard Kennedy School), David Naughton (Byrne Wallace Shields), Ryan McTernan (Fifth Season Investments), Richard Krebs (Orrick), Lee Pepper (ArentFox Schiff), Manu Mazumdar (Conning), Matthew Sheridan (Health Data Analytics Institute), Phil Hall (Longevity Holdings) and Vince Granieri (Predictive Resources).
