For founder Zoltan Dicso, the recognition is not simply another business award. It is a reminder of how the company began. Before there was an office, a warehouse or a fleet of branded vehicles, Dicso and his wife, Pamela, used the balcony of their home to store tools and materials. The balcony was crowded, the resources were limited and every new project mattered.
Dicso’s journey to that balcony had already required starting over. Originally from Budapest, Hungary, he arrived in the United States with $200 and no English. He experienced homelessness, at times sleeping in his car, then spent years working as a construction laborer and learning the trade from the ground up. In 2017, he founded ZD Stucco Repair with the belief that contractors could be more honest about what a property needed and more accountable for how the work was performed.
Pamela Dicso, now President of ZD Stucco Repair, worked alongside him from the company’s earliest days. Together, they moved from storing materials at home to building the systems, crews and infrastructure needed to serve homeowners, commercial properties, hotels and large occupied communities across New Jersey, New York and surrounding markets.
“When we started, our balcony was our warehouse. The second consecutive ranking follows a year of record production for ZD Stucco Repair. Its work now ranges from individual homes to complex commercial buildings and multi-building communities. The company’s portfolio includes projects for nationally recognized brands such as Starbucks and Wells Fargo, a 120-home restoration across 62 occupied buildings at Four Seasons at Chester and work in a Cresskill community of more than 50 homes. These projects require not only technical skill, but careful scheduling, resident communication, jobsite protection and consistent quality control across multiple crews.
